Joel 2 Assembly Called for Easter 2009

Joel 2 Assembly
Called for Easter 2009, 10am Friday 10th to 3pm Sunday 12th April Palmerston North Christian Fellowship, Palmerston North
The church in the city

Dear brothers and sisters

This year the Lord has placed His church on our hearts. In every New Zealand city He has His church. Together, this church is the body of Christ in the city. Together we express the Kingdom of God. And together we are agents for breakthrough and transformation for the cities in which we live. This one church is not defined by our denominations, by our ambition, by our preferences, by our offences, by our independence, or by our divisions. In every city there is just one church made up of all true believers. These are the ones adopted into the family of God as sons and daughters through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is the first-born of those who believe.

In every city the Lord has set us in companies and each company has shepherds. The body works effectively when relationships are strong within and between. Each company, irrespective of denominational labels, must be an expression of loving community because the Lord told us that the world would know we are His disciples by our love for one-another. And each company must uphold the others in love. At the end of His earthly ministry Jesus prayed fervently for the unity of his disciples.

Sadly the church often falls short of the Lord's vision for us. Many of us are too easily offended and refuse to forgive. Many of us break relationship rather than working through our differences and disagreements. Instead of love for one-another we find selfishness, independence and self-centredness. Instead of unity we let our differences divide us. This Joel2 Assembly we are called to stand in the gap for the church in the city.

The health of the church in the city is the key to the health of the city. Where the church goes the city goes. Our prayer will begin with, and for, the churches of Palmerston North, then the city of Palmerston North and its government. Then we will pray for the cities and churches across the nation that are represented by those who come and join us. Come and stand with us for our city and the church within it and we will stand in the gap with you for your church and your city.

Plan to participate and make a difference for the Kingdom of Heaven!

Scriptures relevant to this call Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly. (Joel 2 v15)

I have posted watchmen on your walls O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call upon the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give Him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth. (Isaiah 62v6-7)

My prayer is ... that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you ... May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me. (John 17)

A new command I give you: Love one another ... by this all men will know that you are my disciples. (John 13)

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden ... in the same way let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. (Matt 5v14+)

How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity ... for there the Lord bestows His blessing, even life forevermore. (Psalm 133)

I appeal to you brothers in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you ... Is Christ divided? (1 Cor 1)

Jono TurnerThank you for visiting our website. We hope that, whether you are a member or not, this site will give you a sense of the Lord's purpose for your life.

Palmerston North Christian Fellowship is a congregation where people from all walks of life join together to worship God. We are a community committed to growth in worship, fellowship, equipping and missions. We are a Pentecostal church, associated with the New Life Churches of New Zealand, operating a collaborative, team leadership based on Ephesians 4:12,13.

Our Values are based on three words: "CARING EQUIPPING ADVANCING"

* CARING for one another and for others.
* EQUIPPING God's people by helping them to apply God's word in their lives and in the lives of others.
* ADVANCING the kingdom individually and corporately, while reaching out beyond our church, both in the local community and overseas.

We encourage formal membership of our church as an expression of commitment. This is not compulsory in order to attend our church. We believe God has a plan for everyone and that each one of us can find our place of ministry and service through the life of the Church. Our primary goal is to extend the kingdom of God by empowering people through personal experience of God and training.

If you have a queries relating to any of the material on this site, please use the Feedback forms. We would love to have you join us in a service, if you're ever in our area. And please feel free to drop in at the church during the week.

Yours In His Service,
